The workshop will show how we used a 17th century map of love (la Carte de Tendre) to engage students in an interactive task exploring love, intrigue, fidelity, and transgression in Madame de Lafayette's 17th century novel, La Princesse de Clèves. Participants will have copies of the map of love and participate actively in the session. In addition to having fun talking about illicit things, the participants will see how teaching a literary text can be a collaborative and engaging enterprise.
